Some lowland jungles are believed to be over 160 million years old. Coastal and inland waterways of the southern peninsular are important habitats for Southeast-Asia waterfowl. The agricultural crops are coconuts, rubber, and cashew nuts. Limestone mountains and caves in Krabi (Viking Cave), Phang-nga, Trang, and Phuket produce crops of edible bird’s nests, a delicacy in Chinese cuisine dating as far back as the Ming and Qing Dynasties of the 17th century.
